Children have a huge potential for learning a new language, and the earlier they start, the better. With that in mind, ALLC designed its Young Learners Program to teach French and English to children of ages 3 to 8. More languages will be offered soon.
Curriculum
Our program draws on a non-traditional way to teaching language. It provides a highly motivating context filled with a wide variety of fun games and activities, allowing language to emerge naturally. The interactive lessons encourage young learners to take risks with language and to express themselves freely.
Young Learners’ Assessment
All our learners will be continuously evaluated in class. However, there will be little or no formal assessment of very young learners. Certificates of completion will be awarded to our learners at the end of every level.
Parental Involvement
Parents of our young learners are encouraged to be involved with their child’s learning experiences through newsletters they receive during the session. They will always have the opportunity to discuss with the teachers their child’s growth and progress. This may be arranged as a scheduled meeting or a telephone conversation.
Parents are also welcome to call the Center at any time during the session to share any concerns or feedback with the Young Learners Coordinator.
Session Structure
Based on an oral placement test, our young learners will be grouped in the following levels:
