ALLC conducts eight sessions throughout the year.
English Placement tests are administered to prospective students to determine their level of English proficiency. The test consists of three parts: 1) multiple-choice, 2) writing, and 3) a short interview.
Transcripts of grades are provided to trainees at the end of each course.
Certificates of Completion are provided upon request after successful completion of any course.
General English Levels Our General English program consists of seven major levels ranging from Starter to Advanced. Courses are highly-interactive and are based on a combination of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Each course is approximately 46 hrs.
1. Starter A (Beginner) 2. Starter B /100A/100B (Elementary) 3. 101/102/103 (Pre- Intermediate) 4. 201/202/ 203 (Intermediate) 5. 301/302/401 (Upper- Intermediate) 6. 402/501/502 (Pre-Advanced) Students taking these courses may also prepare for the University of Michigan Examination for the Certificate of Competency in English.
7. Advanced Proficiency 1 thru 5 This series of courses helps students prepare for the University of Michigan Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency in English which students may take on completion of Proficiency 5.
CPE 1 thru 8 This series of courses prepares students for the University of CambridgeESOL Certificate of Proficiency in English. CPE is the minimum language requirement for those wishing to apply for the teacher-training course, CELTA.
Electives A variety of short courses that help students enhance their language skills. These are highly-recommended as a supplement to the general English courses. Usually held on Fridays and Saturdays.

Conversation courses are offered from elementary to advanced levels. They are a great opportunity for students to focus just on their speaking skills. Approximately 18 hours each. |

Examination Courses
Students who wish to gain admission into English-speaking institutions of higher learning may be required to pass any of the following exams. Our courses focus on test-taking techniques and include samples of practice exams to make sure you are ready for the test. Our students have a high success rate in these exams.
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) Practice for the computerized test is available in our computer labs.
SAT I (Scholastic Aptitude Test I) This examination covers various topics such as mathematics, reading comprehension and logic.
GRE (Graduate Record Examination) This test measures verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing skills.
GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) This test evaluates verbal and mathematical skills as well as general knowledge and preparation for graduate study.  International Certification
ALLC offers students the opportunity to earn international English language certificates by preparing them for the official exams.
TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) This exam is a standard assessment of English-language proficiency. Government agencies, corporations and international organizations use the TOEIC to ascertain the English-language capabilities of employees. Examinations are offered twice a year. University of Michigan, U.S.A. ECCE (Examination for the Certificate of Competency in English) Students taking advanced level courses have the opportunity to prepare for the Michigan Competency Exam. This exam involves writing, reading, grammar, listening and an oral interview. Examination offered annually. ECPE (Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency in English) Examination offered annually.
University of Cambridge, ESOL, U.K. CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) This is the highest level of EFL examinations. This is suitable for students who have completed the appropriate courses, (CPE1-CPE8). Examinations are offered twice a year.

English for Special Purposes
English for Law A short introductory course for practicing lawyers who wish to enhance their English skills for legal correspondence and drafting contracts.
English for Banking An introductory course covering telephoning techniques, written correspondence and day-to-day interaction in a banking environment.
